Nov. 30-WOOSTER, Ohio- The Hiram College swimming & diving teams set season records on the first day of the Wooster Invitational, Thursday afternoon.
The Terrier men made great strides toward improvement this week with senior Jordan Canevari shaving almost 20 seconds off his previous 500-yard freestyle time (5:17.83).
Freshman Elijah Skaggs kept the theme going with a season-best of 22.62 in the 50-yard freestyle, just shy of the top half of the competition.
Senior Jory Gomes trimmed 10 seconds off his previous 200 yard IM, clocking in at 2:15.27.
On the women's side, Junior Sierra Daniels led the Terriers in the 50-yard freestyle (29.70), a new season best. Trailing close behind was her Hiram teammates, freshman Kerrie Romagna (30.14), sophomore Kimmy Morrison (30.89), and Nicki Prentler (32.21).
The 400-yard medley relay swam one of their fastest times of the season, clocking in at 4:55.95. The relay featured Prentler, Nelson, Daniels, and Morrison.
Sophomore Jenna Nelson beat out seven swimmers in the 500-yard freestyle in a season-best time of 5:49.13.
The Terriers will compete in day two of the Wooster Invite Friday, December 2 at 10 am.
