HIRAM, Ohio - October 18, 2019 - Multiple Terriers scored as the Hiram College women's soccer team defeated Oberlin, 4-0 Friday night.
Hiram did all of their damage in the opening half, as the Ward sisters scored a pair of unanswered goals.
A ball from Hannah Ward found the foot of freshman Jaycee Ward who drilled a shot into the box that the Yeowomen's defense was unable to clear. Hannah Ward got on the board later in the half, when she capitalized off of a goalie error to help Hiram take the 2-0 lead.
In the final minutes of the first half, freshman Emily D' Amico was able to get the ball and fired a shot into the net to secure the last Hiram goal of the game (4-0).
"Jaycee Ward's goal set the tone for us tonight. It was awesome to see Jaycee, Ashley Sandru, and Emily D' Amico get their first collegiate goals," commented head coach Michael Cracas.
A strong first half secured the victory for the Terriers with Hiram only allowing two shots in the first 45 minutes of work.
Goalkeeper Ally Green posted her fourth shutout of the season tallying two saves.
The Terriers finished the night with 12 total shots with a 7-2 advantage in corners.
"Great team victory tonight. It was important for us to get on them early," coach Cracas said.
"We can enjoy this tonight, but we need to focus on Allegheny," added Cracas.
Hiram will return to action on Wednesday, October 23, as they host Allegheny. The conference matchup is scheduled for a 7:30 p.m. start.
