Women's Lacrosse downed by Division II Notre Dame

HIRAM, Ohio -- The Hiram College women's lacrosse team fell to Division II foe Notre Dame (OH) by a 14-8 score on Wednesday evening.

The Terriers are now 3-5 on the season, while the Falcons stand at 4-2.

Junior Autumn Osgood (Hyde Park, Vt./Lamoille Union) tallied three goals to lead Hiram. Sophomore Alyse Gillentine (Hartville, Ohio/Lake) and sophomore Sierah Ray (Tallmadge, Ohio/Stow-Munroe Falls) each had two goals.

Notre Dame grabbed control of the game early, scoring the contest's first six goals to open up a 6-0 lead midway through the first half.

Hiram got on the board at the 13:36 mark on a goal by sophomore Katelyn Slomovitz (Kent, Ohio/Roosevelt).

The teams each exchanged goals the rest of the half, with the Falcons taking a 10-4 lead into the break. Hiram also got goals from Gillentine, Osgood and Ray in the first half.

In the second half, Osgood converted on a free position shot with 26:40 left to pull the Terriers within 10-5.

Notre Dame countered with three straight goals, before a score from Ray cut the Falcon deficit to 13-6. Senior Michaela Edmond (Sherman, Conn./New Milford) picked up the assist on the play.

The Falcons scored again to take a 14-6 advantage. Osgood and Gillentine both made good on free position shots in the final 10 minutes to conclude the scoring on the night.

Sophomore Rachel Metcalf (Stow, Ohio/Stow-Munroe Falls) made 11 saves in goal.

Notre Dame held a 13-11 edge in draw controls and a 33-22 advantage in shots.

The Terriers will return to NCAC play on Saturday, April 2, with a home contest versus DePauw (Ind.) at 11 a.m.
