HIRAM, Ohio – February 1, 2020 - The Hiram College women's basketball team collected their fourth North Coast Athletic Conference victory of the season with a 76-67 win over Ohio Wesleyan on Saturday.
Hiram played unselfish basketball throughout the evening's contest, registering 15 assists on 31 made field goals. Seven different players totaled at least one basket, while three Terriers tallied double digits in the effort.
The Terriers shot 50.8 percent from the floor, tallying 35 rebounds, and forcing 18 turnovers.
The Battling Bishops took advantage of solid shooting early, taking a 19-9 lead after the first quarter.
Hiram would respond with a 20-13 swing in the second quarter, cutting Ohio Wesleyan's double-digit lead down to three (32-29) before the halftime break.
Sophomore Cici Bright registered 10 of the 20 Hiram points in the frame, shooting 4-for-5 from the floor and finishing perfect from the charity stripe (2-for-2).
From there Hiram would grow their lead to as big as nine (51-42), before the Battling Bishops posted seven unanswered baskets, cutting the Hiram advantage down to two (51-49).
Wright closed out the third quarter with a jump shot (53-49) inside the final second.
The Battling Bishops would get as close as three (66-63), but a 10-4 swing pushed the Terriers lead to a final 76-67 victory.
Junior Tashauna Wright once again led the scorers with 24 points, eight rebounds, four assists, and three steals.
Bright trailed with 17 points and three rebounds, while junior Alainna Conroy added 13 points and eight boards.
Hiram will return to the court on Friday, Feb. 7 as they take on Wittenberg. The matchup with the Tigers is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
