HIRAM, Ohio – January 25, 2020 - The Hiram College women's basketball team captured their third conference win of the season, upending the College of Wooster, 76-63 on Saturday afternoon.
A trio of Terriers finished with double-digit scoring. TT Wright led the group with 24 points and seven rebounds. Alainna Conroy ended the afternoon with 18 points and three rebounds, while Madison Branch added 10 points and a pair of assists.
The first quarter was played close with Hiram finishing with a one-point lead (15-14).
A layup from freshman Taylor Valaitis opened the second to stretch the Terriers' advantage to three (17-14).
From there, the Fighting Scots and Terriers traded baskets, knotting the score twice, the last at 25-25 with 4:31 left in the frame.
Inside the last four minutes of the half, Hiram used a 9-4 run to grow their lead to five points (34-29) before halftime. Three different Terriers scored in the push with four of the nine points coming from Wright.
Fresh out the break, Hiram held the Fighting Scots to single digits with them shooting 4-16 from the floor.
Wright tallied 11 of the teams 21 points in the third, growing their advantage to as much as 19 points (55-36) with twenty-four seconds remaining in the quarter.
Despite Wooster outscoring Hiram 25-21 in the final frame, the Terriers maintained their double-digit advantage securing their 76-63 win.
Hiram held the Fighting Scots to a 37.3 field goal percentage, forcing 26 turnovers, and shooting over 80 percent from the free-throw line.
Hiram will return to the court on Wednesday, Jan. 29 when they take on Denison. The conference matchup with the Big Red is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
