HIRAM, Ohio – January 22, 2020 - Tashauna Wright's career night led the Hiram College women's basketball team to an 81-78 double-overtime victory over the Ladies of Kenyon, Wednesday night.
Wright never left the court, registering a career-high 34 points in her fifty minutes of action. The junior guard also added seven rebounds and two steals.
Sophomore Cici Bright and junior Alainna Conroy both finished the game in double-digit scoring, adding 20 and 13 points respectively. Bright's scoring performance also marked a career-high, adding eight boards.
Most of the action was played in the second half, with the Terriers cutting Kenyon's fourth-quarter 12-point lead down to zero (63-63) to send the game into its' first overtime period.
Hiram held the Ladies to single digits going on a 17-9 run. Wright and Conroy combined for 12 of the 17 Hiram points in the frame.
Bright opened up the first overtime period with a three-point play, sinking a basket before being sent to the line where she stretched the Hiram lead to 66-63.
The Ladies responded with a 5-0 run to take a two-point advantage (68-66) with 2:36 remaining in the period.
Kenyon would post one last basket before Wright tied the game 70-70 with eight seconds left, sending the game to double overtime for the first time in her career.
Inside the one-minute mark, the Ladies took their last lead of the night (78-77) off a layup from Ellie Schaub.
Wright scored her final basket of the night, pulling the Terriers ahead by one (79-78).
Conroy and Bright each added a point from the charity stripe, cementing the 81-78 win.
Hiram finished 27-of-69 (39.1 percent) from the field, forcing 24 turnovers, and holding a 30-20 advantage in the paint.
Hiram will return to the court on Saturday, Jan. 25 as they take on Wooster. The matchup with the Fighting Scots is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
