OBERLIN, Ohio – January 18, 2020- The Hiram College women's basketball team fell 74-62 in a conference matchup against the Yeowomen of Oberlin, Saturday afternoon.
The Terriers took their lone lead of the game when junior Alainna Conroy hit a three-pointer in the opening minutes (3-2).
From there, Oberlin controlled the scoring momentum finishing the first quarter with an 18-11 lead.
The host stretched their lead to seven (20-13) before Hiram used an 11-5 run to cut Oberlin's advantage down to one (25-24) with 4:23 remaining in the second quarter.
The Yeowomen maintained their lead finishing the second quarter up 35-31 heading into the halftime break.
Oberlin kept Hiram scoreless in the opening minutes of the third extending their advantage to 10 (41-31).
The Terriers were held to single digits in the third quarter closing out the frame trailing 55-39.
Despite Hiram outscoring the host 23-19 in the final quarter the last offensive push was not enough, and the Yeowomen secured their 74-62 win.
Offensively, Wright led the way with 29 points and a team-high nine rebounds. Conroy also finished in double-digit scoring with 12 points, three rebounds, and two steals. Sophomore Cici Bright added eight points and a perfect 6-6 from the free-throw line.
Hiram will return home for a Blue Out game against Kenyon on Wednesday, Jan. 22. The matchup with the Ladies is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
