Women's Basketball Falls Short Against Allegheny

HIRAM, Ohio – January 15, 2020- The Hiram College women's basketball team had a tough time getting their offense going on Wednesday night, as Hiram fell, 95-77 to Allegheny at Price Gymnasium.

Four Hiram players finished the evening with double-digit scoring performances. Junior Alainna Conroy led the Terrier scoring attack with 21 points, while junior TT Wright tallied 15. Juniors Madison Branch and MicKayla Baldwin also added 12 and 10 points, respectively.

In the opening quarter, the Gators held Hiram without a basket for the first three minutes, running out to a 5-0 lead.

From there, Allegheny would grow their lead to seven (16-9) with 2:47 remaining in the quarter.

The Terriers responded with a 9-2 run to knot the score at 18-18 at the end of the first. Branch scored five of the nine Hiram points in the frame.

The Gators outscored Hiram 29-19 in the second quarter, taking a ten-point lead into the halftime break (47-37).

The second half proved difficult for the Terrier offense as Hiram was held to a game-low 16 points in the third quarter (71-53).

Allegheny would keep Hiram at arm's length for the remainder of regulation to take the 18-point win.

Hiram will return to the court on Saturday, Jan. 18, as they head to Oberlin, Ohio. The matchup with the Yeowomen is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
