Terrier Softball Earns Doubleheader Sweep over Westminster 
Mar.20- HIRAM, Ohio- The Hiram College softball team gave up one total run in a doubleheader sweep of Westminster, Wednesday afternoon.  
The Terriers won the first game with a shutout performance (8-0) and cruised to a 3-1 win in the second game.  
Sophomore pitcher Kaitlyn Hager highlighted game one. Hager's performance marked the first complete-game shutout of her career only allowing four hits and tallying four strikeouts. 
The Terriers scored in each of the innings played. Freshman Leah Valdez kicked off the action doubling to right center to score freshman Kaitlyn Saffel (1-0).  
Hiram kept the scoring momentum going tallying four of their eight runs in the second inning. Freshman Isabelle Gonzales scored the first run of the inning. While senior Chase Martinez singled to
left field to bring home Isabelle Miranda. Junior Nikki Budner and Martinez finished off the second inning each tallying a run apiece (5-0).  
In the third inning, Hiram would stretch their lead with Miranda and Budner tacking on two more runs (7-0).  
A single from sophomore Giselle Bahena scored Saffel to mark the last Hiram run of the game (8-0).  
Three Terriers recorded a multi-run game including two from Saffel, Miranda, and Budner.  
In game two, Bailey Scheck collected her second win of the season pitching a complete game giving up just one run and striking out five batters. 
Down by one, Hiram made their strike in the bottom of the fifth inning with Bahena scoring a run to tie the game (1-1).  
Gonzales and Valdez each posted a run in the sixth inning to close out game two with a 3-1 victory.  
Hiram will travel to Alliance, Ohio on Wednesday, March 27 to take on Mount Union. The non-conference doubleheader is scheduled for a 3:30 and 5:30 p.m. start.
