Terrier Baseball Falls in Season Opener

The Hiram College baseball team dropped their first game of the 2019 season, 4-3, to the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy on Sunday afternoon.

The Terriers played well in the outing and were led by senior Kyle Harris, who finished as the only Terrier with a multi-hit game. Harris finished with three hits, while going three-for-four at the plate with a RBI.

Along with Harris, Sophomore Zachary Bailey, junior PJ Suso and sophomore Curtis Caithaml tallied RBIs.

The difference in the matchup came in the bottom of the eighth, as the USMMA came away with a pair of runs on an error.

Hiram will take on the Merchant Marines again tomorrow afternoon in doubleheader action. The double dip is scheduled for a 3 p.m. start.
